My Stock Picks for 2024

Hey there!

After a long hiatus, we are back with our stock picks for 2024.   My current criteria is at least 1 Billion market cap with a P/E ratio of not more than 55.  I specifically looked at stocks that fared well during and even after the covid-19 period.

Looking back at my past posts in 2018, CSU.TO and WCN.TO were two of my picks back then.

I'll check back in at the beginning of 2025 to see how the stocks performed.

My January Stock Picks for 2020

Time to look at stock picks for the upcoming year.

So nowhere is it more evident than in China, that skiing and snowboarding look to be taking off.    There are no less than 30 indoor ski parks in China.
However natural outdoor skiparks in China aren't thriving at the moment.

With the growing Chinese middle class, they are really looking into leisure activities and I think skiing and snowboarding will become their focus.

I think the indoor skiparks will give the Chinese a real taste for winter sports, but they will start to hunger for the real thing.  They have no problem going abroad to spend their money.

With that said, I started to look into publicly traded ski resort stocks but with the exception of Vail Resorts (MTN), there aren't any.

The next best thing is to look into ski and snowboard equipment and apparel providers.  Burton is the number one snowboard company but it is privately held. Another big provider of winter sports equipment is Saloman.

I wanted to at least pick one stock from the Canadian stock market, but I couldn't find any, so all my stock picks this month will be traded on the US markets.

So for my first 2020 stock picks, I'm going with
MTN - Vail Resorts, $251.40 USD
ADDYY - Adidas (which owns Saloman), $171.47 USD
VF - VF Corporation which owns NorthFace, $95.06 USD

In April 2020, I will check the stock valuations and see how they fared coming out of the winter season.
